"From the dawn of time we came, moving
silently down throughout the centuries. Living many secret lives,
struggling to reach the time of the gathering, when the few who remain
will battle to the last. No one has ever known we were among
you...until now."
Who is the Kurgan? Where does he come from?
The Kurgans were an ancient people from the steppes of Russia. For
amusement, they tossed children into pits with hungry dogs to fight for
meat.
The Kurgan is the strongest of all immortals. He is the
perfect warrior. He cares about nothing or no-one. He is completely evil
(intensely). If he wins the Prize, mortal men will suffer an eternity of
darkness and slavery beneath his boot. How do you fight such a savage?
With heart, faith and steel. In the end, there can be only one…
In
the original Highlander film, the Kurgan is portrayed as the most evil
of all of the Immortals. The Kurgan is probably named for the region of
his origin (a place name in the Urals, in the Steppes above the Black
Sea, in what is now Russia). The Scythians were the people that lived in
that area, and from excavations of their burials one can see that they
were an advanced people, whose zoomorphic art is the precursor to the
knotwork of the Celtic and Anglo-Saxon/Scandinavian forms.
Indeed, the master blade smiths at Marto have in exact
menacing detail recreated a precise replica of the Kurgan Sword that
wreaked such havoc in the classic Highlander film. Hand-ground, polished
and custom heat-treated in their on-site forge, each sword offers
maximum flexibility and supreme cutting performance. Just 3,000 of these
sensational weapons will be wrought, each numbered and accompanied by a
Certificate of Authenticity. Tempered Stainless Steel Blade, 43"
overall.
