The first thing you notice about the Piston is its cut good looks. Both
blade and handle are dramatically sculpted for a look you wont see in
just anybodys pocket.
And speaking of pockets, while the Piston is a larger knife, it wont put
too much weight in your pocket. The key is the Pistons lightweight G-10
handle and Inset Liner Lock. G-10, an epoxy-filled woven glass fiber
material, is extremely tough and stable all by itself. So theres no need
to fully line the handle with steel plate to create a durable handle.
That lightens the weight, as well as the thickness of the knife,
considerably.
Then, to ensure a secure lock up, Kershaw uses our Inset Liner Lock. We
inset a smaller steel plate, which functions like a locking liner, in
one side of the handle. When the knife is opened, the steel plate moves
behind the blade securely locking is open.
The Pistons blade is Sandvik 14C28N, a high-performance stainless steel
that's tough, corrosion resistant, and hardened to 58-60 on the Rockwell
Hardness Scale. The Piston offers our quad-carry options and even has a
lanyard attachment. Dont see a hole in the handle? Exactly. Theres a
hidden lanyard attachment in the interior of the handle so nothing
interrupts the Pistons chiseled look. |
